Frequently Asked Questions

How does Here for Hello pay for itself?

We do not sell personal data, run ads, or charge a subscription. Revenue from optional ID verification helps pay for the private infrastructure, safety operations, and product work that keep the core service free.

What does ID verified mean?

It means Stripe matched the person’s government ID to a selfie. The platinum ring shows only that identity-match result. It is not a background check, character reference, or guarantee of safety.

Is verification required?

Verification is optional for seeing who is nearby, saying hello, and joining a Plan. It is required to host a Plan because the host publishes an exact public meeting point and asks other people to show up. Everyone should still meet in public and use their judgment.

What is a Plan?

A Plan is a short, public invitation tied to a place and time: a run, walk, coffee, workout, game, or something else. It is not a permanent group, feed, or chat. Nearby people can say they are in, but attendee names are not published and the Plan disappears after it is over.

Does Here for Hello keep my ID or selfie?

Here for Hello does not receive or store a copy of your identity document or verification selfie. Stripe performs the check. We retain the result and opaque Stripe references needed to operate, support, and audit the feature as described in our Privacy Policy.

Do you sell personal data?

No. We do not sell or license personal data, location data, profile content, relationship records, or aggregate product-usage data. Read the full plain-language commitment in Our Privacy Promise.
