Real connection is the point. Here for Hello helps people meet nearby, say hello, and then put the phone away. It is social without surveillance: people are the purpose, never the data product.
No data sales
We do not sell or license personal data, location data, profile content, relationship records, or aggregate product-usage data. We do not run an advertising network or create profiles for targeted advertising.
Funded without surveillance
We do not need advertising or personal-data sales to fund the service. Revenue from optional ID verification helps pay for infrastructure, safety operations, and product work. Paying does not buy visibility, ranking, or access to another person’s information.
No engagement traps
There is no feed, swipe deck, streak, score, algorithmic ranking, or direct chat. A person can send one content-free hello. If the other person says hello back, Here for Hello tells both people to put the phone away, look up, and connect when they are ready.
No movement history
When you separately choose to become visible, the live service receives one approximate location snapshot and uses it for no more than 15 minutes to decide who is nearby. We do not continuously follow you. Stopping sharing or reaching the end of the session clears the point from your live profile. Encrypted infrastructure backups age out under their retention schedule and are not used for discovery.
People see a profile, not your point
Other users do not receive your coordinates, distance, direction, route, stable account identifier, or person-level map position. Map positions shown in the experience are illustrative and randomized.
Plans show a place, not your movement
A verified host can deliberately pin a public meeting point for a time-bounded Plan. That point belongs to the invitation, stays fixed, and is scheduled for deletion 30 days after the Plan ends. We show how many people are in, never a public attendee roster.
Minimum necessary information
We keep only what is needed to operate the service, protect people, process an optional payment or identity check, respond to a request, and meet legal obligations. Safety records are access-restricted and are not repurposed into advertising or movement analytics. You can delete your account from your profile.
A future owner does not get a clean slate
These promises continue to govern information collected under them if Here for Hello changes ownership. A successor must honor them. A materially broader use of previously collected information requires a clear explanation and your affirmative consent. Without that consent, the original promise continues or the information must be deleted, except where the law requires limited retention.
The precise policy controls
This page is a plain-language summary. The Privacy Policy describes the information we process, the service providers involved, retention, security, and your rights in detail. Where the two differ, the more specific Privacy Policy controls.
