Law-enforcement requests

Effective 2026-10-17

These guidelines concern requests to HERE FOR HELLO LLC for Here for Hello account records. They do not grant access to member information or replace applicable law or valid legal process. Our existing Terms and Privacy Policy continue to apply without expansion by this protocol.

Immediate danger

If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. Here for Hello is not an emergency-response service. Do not rely on our website forms for an immediate response; we do not promise continuous monitoring or a response time.

Initial contact

For initial routing, use Contact, choose Legal notice, and begin your message with Law-enforcement request. Provide the requesting officer's name, agency, official email address, independently verifiable callback number, jurisdiction, case reference, request type, and any deadline. Keep the initial message brief; the form has a 2,000-character limit.

Do not paste investigative files, identity documents, sensitive exhibits, or suspected illegal imagery into the general contact form. Identify what kind of request you need to deliver and ask for an appropriate secure channel. Do not send account records until the recipient and transfer method have been verified.

A designated Here for Hello operator reviews Legal notice messages and verifies the requester's identity and authority before arranging an appropriate secure channel or legal escalation. A form receipt is not human acceptance, valid service, confirmation that preservation has been implemented, or authorization to disclose records. The Contact form is an initial routing channel, not a designated method for serving legal process. Applicable service requirements continue to apply.

Information needed for review

Through the verified channel, provide the legal process or other claimed legal basis, issuing authority and jurisdiction, a narrowly identified account or content reference, the specific records sought, a date range with time zone, and a response deadline. Include any order restricting notice and its duration. Display names alone may be insufficient to identify an account.

We review the requester's identity and authority, jurisdiction, legal process, scope, and the records actually available. We may seek clarification or challenge deficient or overbroad requests. This protocol addresses compulsory legal process and reporting obligations described in our existing Terms. It does not create a new permission for voluntary disclosure or expand our published Privacy Policy. Merely requesting information does not establish a right to receive it. International requests require a legally valid basis applicable to the request and records.

Preservation is separate from disclosure

Clearly identify a preservation request and the records and period it concerns. Preservation applies to identifiable records still held, under the applicable legal requirements. It does not itself authorize disclosure, create missing records, restore deleted information, or authorize new surveillance.

Where 18 U.S.C. §2703(f) applies, the statutory preservation period is 90 days, with another 90 days upon a qualifying renewed request. Other legal duties can require different retention. In particular, child-safety reporting records are subject to separate requirements. Ordinary deletion must be reconciled with any applicable preservation duty; a hold is not permission for unrelated retention.

Preservation and disclosure are separate decisions. Our acknowledgment does not determine when an applicable legal duty arises, and a generic form receipt does not confirm technical preservation.

Urgent requests

Identify the urgency, relevant deadline, limited records sought, and a verifiable agency callback number. An urgent label does not authorize disclosure. Any proposed response requires human legal review under applicable law and our existing privacy commitments. This form is not an emergency-response channel and does not promise immediate review.

Records and service limits

Here for Hello supports profiles, fixed greetings, and time-bounded public Plans—not unrestricted chat. Available records depend on the features used, retention rules, and applicable holds. We cannot promise a complete history or that a given account, location, payment, or message record exists.

Our Privacy Policy describes short-lived, approximate presence and separate Plan meeting points. Neither is a continuous movement history or proof that a person attended a meeting. Infrastructure and provider records require separate assessment; clearing a live profile is not proof that every backup or provider copy has been erased.

Stripe processes payments and optional identity checks. Here for Hello does not copy ID or selfie images into its product database or photo storage, but authorized administrators may access some verification information through Stripe. Requests involving provider-held records require assessment of the appropriate holder and lawful process; this is not a promise that Here for Hello cannot access such information.

Notice, confidentiality, and child safety

We assess applicable notice duties and any valid restriction before responding. Any proposed member notice is reviewed for legal prohibitions, safety risks, and the ability to contact the affected person. This policy does not promise notice in every case or confidentiality beyond what law permits or requires.

We prohibit child sexual abuse material and sexual exploitation of minors. When actual knowledge triggers a reporting duty, we report to NCMEC and preserve required information as required by 18 U.S.C. §2258A. Do not send suspected illegal imagery through Contact. This statement does not promise universal monitoring or perfect detection. General abuse, privacy, and content-removal reports can use the Request center.
